South Carolina State University's basketball team, commonly referred to as the Bulldogs, is a Division I program that competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The team has a rich history, with notable alumni including NBA players such as Tyrone Corbin and Robert Covington. The Bulldogs play their home games at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center, which has a seating capacity of 3,500. The team is known for its fast-paced, high-scoring style of play, and has a reputation for producing talented guards. The current head coach is Tony Madlock, who took over the program in 2021.
