Balikpapan United Football Club is a professional Indonesian football club based in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. The club competes in the Liga 2, the second tier of Indonesian football.
Balikpapan United was founded in 2014 as a merger of two local clubs, Persiba Balikpapan and Mitra Kukar. The club adopted the name Balikpapan United to represent the unity of the two clubs and the city of Balikpapan.
In their first season, Balikpapan United finished 10th in the Liga 1. The following season, the club improved to finish 7th. In the 2017 season, Balikpapan United reached the semi-finals of the Piala Indonesia.
However, the club's fortunes declined in the 2018 season when they were relegated to the Liga 2. Balikpapan United spent two seasons in the Liga 2 before regaining promotion to the Liga 1 in 2020.
Balikpapan United's home ground is the Batakan Stadium, which has a capacity of 35,000. The club's colors are blue and yellow.
